November 4, 2009  -  Engagements

michelle + joe

I think we got gipped pretty hard on summer this year. Either is was raining, or we were working - or, very often, both. When "fall" started this year (yeah, I used quotation marks - I've been living here long enough now to know you never EVER know what this time of year is going to bring) I thought it was just going to keep raining and then, one day, instantly turn to snow. The last couple of weeks, though, have actually been pretty nice. It's rained, sure, but it's been more sporadic and we finally have gotten to shoot with some real color on the trees and on the ground...

We went over to Williamsville to make some photographs with Michelle and Joe, and we definitely had one of our favorite shoots of the year. You guys are so money...

My favorite...

It really was a gorgeous day, and it was the day before Halloween, so that crazy wind storm hadn't moved the leaves yet and they just blanketed the ground over at the park.

So, Rich spotted these young whipper snappers up to all sorts of tomfoolery up on this ledge, and insisted we scale this wall to get up to where he'd seen them for some shots. I wasn't really into making Michelle scale walls in heels, but she was up for it, and we went up to this spot we'd never shot before and rocked out. I was really happy with how these came out.

We are not nearly old enough for you to have just typed that.

We wandered up to the old mill, and there was a hole in the roof pouring light into this space, and I love, love, loved this shot we got there.

Yeah - here's us in a nutshell - old, quasi-abandoned building with holes in the roof? Let's shoot in it! You know, light is light. Most of the times I like what we find naturally when we go hunting for it with a couple, and sometimes we throw around a little of our own.

I look like a farm boy. :( I can never wear flannel again.

I didn't mean to make you feel bad!! I actually really, really like that shirt - I just wanted to show everybody what I get to see when you're shooting :) Besides, the 90s are totally back - let's go get our Mother Love Bone albums back out and watch re-runs of the State. I'm down.

I love this next one, babe...

I don't know what Mother Love Bone is. But thanks! I like your especially awesome ninja impression in this shot!

If I turn sideways - you can't see me. But seriously, I knew I shouldn't have dropped a grunge reference - I'm pretty sure you spent the 90s listening to showtunes and Barbra Streisand.

*ahem Enya ahem*

Sail away, sail away, sail away! Ask Alyssa about her "Pure Moods" CD. Brutal.

Michelle and Joe, thank you guys so much for the crazy-good shoot and the laughs. We're going to have a lot of fun at your wedding next year, for real. Take care and I'm sure we'll talk to you guys soon.
