April 26, 2013 - Engagements
A long time ago, Rich and I were driving around and saw the most fantastic and amazing light. You know the kind - when the sky is slate gray, just ready to storm, but the sun is illuminating everything. It's my favorite way the world can look. And I can count on one hand the amount of times Earth decided to cooperate and look so awesome while we were out shooting.
One of us, lamenting the fact that we weren't currently shooting, said we wished we had a trunk couple. You know, a couple we'd kidnap and keep in our trunk for whenever we saw something we NEEDED to shoot. Fast forward a few years, and trunk couple has been a running joke for us, and it probably just needs to be said publicly that if Carolyn + Matt go missing, we probably have them. Seriously, we had such a good time shooting them, I'm gonna make them come hang out with us so we always have a really rad couple to shoot when inspiration strikes :)
Technically our season has started - which season this is, I'm not sure - and we've been running around like crazy people shooting. I feel like the blog is about to get severely bipolar for our next few posts - sun, snow, sun, snow. But we're absolutely thrilled to be back into shooting. We took a block of time off this year with the new baby, and I've been going nuts just wanting to get out and shoot. And if Carolyn + Matt are any indication, 2013 is going to be an epic year.
I don't know what it says about us that one of our "things" is joking about having a couple tied up in our trunk, but here we are. Hire us to shoot your wedding, they said. We're totally not weirdos, they said. We just use a lot of duct tape around the house, don't even worry about it, they said.
I could go on, but the damage has been done. CHANGE TOPICS RIGHT AWAY.
I'm over here all amped the BIlls drafted a QB last night and Alyssa could not care less. She claims she will not return to Bills fandom until they go 8-8, and I think that's unrealistic. They're probably not going to go 8-8 this year, and I'm going to have to deal with massive, earth-shattering eye rolls from 1-4 pm every Sunday this Fall. Pass the kool-aid.
Woah, there, killer - no one said anything about tied up! Uh... so...
Yeah - you know, I regret few things as much as my introducing you to the Bills. It's been a long 30 years, and I'm tired. I can't have the kind of physical torment like you get watching a Bills game. I just can't do it anymore. I'm too old for their crap. A .500 season, and I'll become a casual fan, again, but I don't think I'll ever get back into it to the point of excitedly (?!) watching the draft. Though Rich did say something about Bruce's godson and weeping and while I *may* have a Bruce fathead and would be excited it I were still a fan, I'm not. So, it doesn't matter. Anyway, why are we talking about the Bills?? Can we agree to have no Bills discussion on the blog this year? With the caveat, of course, being making the playoffs? Otherwise, can we just pretend they don't exist? For my sanity?
(Rich is currently dying laughing at Pair of Kings. Just to let everyone know.)
Hey, I have to find enjoyment in our kids' morning television choices or I'd go insane. Also, I'm an extremely simple man. Hence the Bills thing. You can't really claim any sort of intellectual superiority while rooting for a Buffalo pro sports franchise.
Anyway, I'm glad we're going to be back and blogging and making idiots of ourselves on a more regular basis. And I'm so, so glad we get to shoot who we do this year. Cheesy, but true. We get to go out and shoot couples like Carolyn and Matt? That makes up for having to watch Bills and Sabres games x100. See you guys again soon :).
